Carolina Hosts No. 3 Florida State for Senior Weekend

CHAPEL HILL – Outscoring their past three opponents 36-2 in five games, the Tar Heels look to extend their five-game win streak as UNC hosts No. 3 Florida State for a three-day series, beginning Saturday with Senior Day and wrapping up Monday live on ESPNU.

Prior to Saturday's 1 p.m. game, Carolina will recognize its four senior Tar Heels, manager and athletic trainer. Plan to arrive early as senior recognitions will begin promptly at 12:35 p.m. Sunday's first pitch is also at 1 p.m. The series concludes Monday night at 7 p.m. live on ESPNU. Check back on GoHeels.com for updates. Admission is free to Anderson Stadium. Fans unable to attend can watch live on the ACC Network Extra Saturday and Sunday, or follow live stats at unclivestats.com.

Saturday's game is sponsored by the UNC General Alumni Association. In addition to Kids Club Day and Enter to Win prizes, there will be free mini pennants for the first 150 fans, courtesy of UNCGAA. Sunday is Kids Day where the first 25 kids (grade 8 or younger) will receive free meal combos. The Tar Heels will sign autographs post-game. On Monday, the first 150 students will receive free Carolina Softball t-shirts, courtesy of UNC Summer School – Monday's game sponsor. Monday is also a Carolina Fever game.

Brittany Pickett leads UNC in the circle with 15 wins and a 1.75 ERA. Led by Kiani Ramsey's .381 average, three Tar Heels are all batting over. 300. Recently returning to the batting order, Pickett is has three home runs and three doubles in 14 at-bats for a 1.357 slugging percentage.

The Tar Heels picked up a pair of midweek nonconference wins, blanking Coastal Carolina Tuesday and edging Liberty Wednesday. Carolina's bats stayed hot, knocking 15 hits in the pair of games. Three Tar Heels had multi-hit games. Both Kristina Burkhardt and Pickett homered vs. Coastal Carolina while Megan Dray and Destiny DeBerry each had a double against Liberty.
»  Pickett is 11 strikeouts shy of 500 for her career which would rank 8th in program history.
» Dray extended her reached-base streak to a team-best, 12 games.
» The last time Carolina had four-straight shutouts was April 11-14, 2012 with two doubleheader shutouts against UNCG and NC State.
» UNC's streak of 22 scoreless innings came to an end as Liberty scored in the third inning.
» Carolina matched its season-best winning streak at five games.

Coming off their first ACC series loss since 2012, the Seminoles wrap up their seven-game roadtrip at North Carolina. Florida State returns to Chapel Hill for an ACC series for the first time since 2016 after winning the ACC Championship at Anderson Stadium in 2017. The reigning WCWS Champions are led by Sydney Sherrill, Dani Morgan and Carsyn Gordon who each hit over .400. Redshirt senior Megan King anchors FSU's pitching staff with 19 wins and a 1.58 ERA.
