Softball Wins Road Midweek At ECU, 7-3

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Carolina softball earned a 7-3 win on the road over East Carolina on Tuesday night.

The game started with Carly Maxton striking out the side, setting the tone for UNC pitchers for the game.
Â
ECU was able to score first on a sac-fly in the second inning but UNC immediately responded with a Sanaa Thompson RBI single.

The Tar Heels offense broke through in the fifth inning, scoring three runs via an Emily LeGette sacrifice fly and Rayna Blackwell reaching on an error that led to two runs.

ECU plated two in the bottom half of the fifth, but in the top of sixth Lexie Roberts delivered the final blow, a bases clearing single that made it a 7-3 ball game.

Kendall Frost came out of the bullpen and dominated, going 2.2 innings not allowing a run and striking out three. She piggy backed a great Carly Maxton start, who went 4.1 innings, only allowing two earned runs while striking out four Pirates.

UNC now shifts their focus to a three-game set at No. 10 Florida State which starts on Friday.
