Softball Falls To No. 10 Florida State, 6-1
April 18, 2026 | Softball
TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – Carolina softball dropped game two against No. 10 Florida State on Saturday afternoon by a score of 6-1.
Â
The Seminoles plated two runs in the first inning, but UNC clawed back with an Emily LeGette solo shot to cut the deficit in half.
Â
It was LeGette's 23rd home run of the season which moves her just one shy of tying Kristen Brown's program record set in 2015. The Florida native moves into sole possession of second place for RBI in a single season. The top two RBI totals are now both from American Heritage High School in Florida (Kat Rodriguez, 2025).
Â
It was the Tar Heels 91st home run of the season which moves them just one away from tying the program record also set in 2015.
Â
After the first inning, Carly Maxton settled in, throwing zeros on the board for the next three frames. In the fifth she was tagged with a three run shot to push the deficit to 5-1.
Â
The Tar Heels were able to get traffic on the bases but were never able to get the big hit, stranding seven on base.
Â
They'll look to bounce back tomorrow at noon in the series finally on ACCNX.
