Dark Throws Second Career No-Hitter, Softball Wins 8-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Kenna Raye Dark dismantled Queens, twirling her second career no-hitter as Carolina shut down the Royals in an 8-0 run rule victory in six innings.Â

Tonight's pitching masterclass was the sixth no-hitter under coach Smith-Lyon and the second of the season. Lilly Parrish threw the first in a 10-0 victory over NCCU on Feb. 19.

Dark is the ninth Tar Heel to throw multiple no-hitters in a career. Dark also set a career high for strikeouts (8) and innings pitched (6) during a no-hitter.

All of the offense for Carolina came in fours. In the first inning, the Tar Heels plated four runs. MC Eaton brought the first run in with a bases-loaded walk, which was the sixth in the last four games. Reagan Jennings had a bases-clearing double to extend the lead to 4-0.

The offense started back up in the sixth inning as Lindsay Lumsden doubled to deep center field to score two more runs. Sanaa Thompson walked off the game with a moonshot to left field to walk things off.
