Softball Dominates In All Facets, Moves To 8-0
February 14, 2026 | Softball
This marks the most runs scored in one day or in two games in program history.
The Tar Heels pitching was just as impressive, allowing just three hits on the day and throwing two shutouts.
The Carolina offense continued its torrid start to the year, this time tying the program record for the most runs in a single game and the largest margin of victory. The long ball has been the weapon of choice for the Tar Heels during the Carolina Classic, with a grand total of 13 home runs, including the nine that they hit today. They've hit 15 home runs this week and 22 on the year in just eight games.
Jil Livengood was lights out in her collegiate debut, twirling four shutout innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win.
The scoring happened early and often with Emily LeGette opening the scoring with a bases clearing double to go up 3-0. Shelby Barbee then doubled in LeGette and MC Eaton blasted a home run that cleared the scoreboard to go up 6-0 in the first.
Michele Tarpey then joined the home run party to go up 8-0 in the second. The third inning saw seven Tar Heel runs cross the plate including Sydney Horton's first career home run which plated Tarpey and Young.
The fourth inning was another first, Catie Boggs launched her career home run, a three-run bomb to dead center field.
Kendall Frost came in to close out the fifth and end the game.
