The freshman tattooed a two-run shot over the left field fence to give Carolina a 2-1 advantage over UNC Greensboro through five.
The Tar Heels loaded the bases with no outs to start the sixth. After a pair of quick outs, Foulks delivered again with a pinch-hit two-out two RBI single up the middle to extend the UNC lead to 4-1.
The three-run cushion was all classmate Spingola needed in the circle. The freshman struck out the first two batters in the seventh and sealed the win with a fly out to right field.
Game Two
Sara Buchholz (6-5) allowed five runs on six hits in the tough luck loss. The Miami, Fla., native struck out three and issued just one walk.
The Spartans unloaded five runs on five hits in the first frame. A fielder's choice extended the inning for UNC Greensboro loading the bases. A Katelyn Bedwell two-out two RBI double highlighted the big inning for the Spartans.
The Tar Heels finally got on the board in the third manufacturing two runs on two hits. After a walk to Kelli Wheeler, Elisha Elliott smacked a single to left field to land a pair of runners. Haleigh Dickey then crushed a two-RBI double into the left center field gap to inch back at the Spartan lead.
Buchholz settled in after a tough first frame to toss six straight scoreless innings. The freshman retired eight in a row and allowed just one hit after the first to keep the Spartans off the board.
