LACKSBURG, Va. --- The University of North Carolina lost by a score of 8-0 in five innings to Georgia Tech (48-19) in the second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Tech Softball Park. The Yellow Jackets jumped to an early lead when Kelsi Weseman hit a two-run homer in the first inning. Hope Rush followed, later in the inning, with another two-run blast to advance the Ramblin' Wreck's lead to 4-0.
Georgia Tech's Kristen Priebe added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning with a RBI single to left field.
In the bottom of the fifth, with Georgia Tech leading 5-0, Caitlin Jordan hit a three-run home run to give the Yellow Jackets the win via the Eight-Run Ahead Rule.
The win advances the Yellow Jackets to the ACC Championship Game vs. Florida State at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
Carolina awaits seeding for the NCAA Tournament to determine the team's next opponent. Seeds will be revealed Sunday at 10 p.m. on the Softball Selection Show on ESPNU.
