
UNC Softball Falls To No. 10 Arizona State, 2-0

FULLERTON, Calif.-The UNC softball team fell 2-0 to Arizona State Friday to finish Kia Klassic pool play with a record of 1-2. The other three teams in Carolina's pool-Arizona State, DePaul and host Cal State Fullerton-all are ranked among the nation's top 11 teams.
The Tar Heels and No. 10 Sun Devils had seven hits each, but Arizona State put its together to score runs in the fourth and sixth innings. UNC left eight runners on base.
Freshman Emily Price went two-for-three with a double for Carolina. Junior Rosie Gustavson also was two-for-three at the plate.
Senior pitcher Radara McHugh took the loss for Carolina, falling to 10-6 on the season. She struck out five batters and now has a career total of 562 strikeouts, one shy of the all-time UNC record.
With seven innings of work against Arizona State, McHugh took over the school record for career innings pitched. Her total stands at 731, surpassing the 728.1 thrown by Tracy Brower from 1988-91.
Kia Klassic championship play begins at 5:00 p.m. PST and continues through Sunday.
