WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Andrew Cordes produced a career-high six saves, but No. 14 North Carolina men's soccer (6-2-4, 1-2-3) suffered a 1-0 loss at No. 4 Wake Forest (10-1-3, 4-1-1) on Saturday night at Spry Stadium.
How It Happened

How It Happened
- Back-to-back shots from Andrew Czech and Charlie Harper less than a minute apart gave UNC the opportunity for the go-ahead goal halfway through the first half, but both attempts were denied by Wake Forest's keeper.
- Andrew Cordes had three big saves in the opening 45 minutes as both teams went into the break locked at zero apiece.
- The Demon Deacons struck first, finding the back of the net in the 51st minute for a 1-0 lead which would ultimately stand as the final tally.
- Creating space for himself inside the box was Parker O'Ferrall in the 67th minute for Carolina's best look in the second half, but his shot sailed just over the crossbar.
- Cordes made three stops in the second frame to conclude the match with a career-high six.
- Cordes' six saves eclipsed his previous career high of five, done at NC State exactly a year ago to the day on Oct. 14, 2022.
- UNC had seven shots to WFU's 10, but Carolina held a narrow 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
- Cordes, Harper, Quenzi Huerman, Sam Williams and Til Zinnhardt logged a full 90 minutes.
- Carolina has not allowed more than one goal in a contest this season.
