WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Andrew Cordes produced a career-high six saves, but No. 14 North Carolina men's soccer (6-2-4, 1-2-3) suffered a 1-0 loss at No. 4 Wake Forest (10-1-3, 4-1-1) on Saturday night at Spry Stadium.

How It Happened

Back-to-back shots from Andrew Czech and Charlie Harper less than a minute apart gave UNC the opportunity for the go-ahead goal halfway through the first half, but both attempts were denied by Wake Forest's keeper.
Andrew Cordes had three big saves in the opening 45 minutes as both teams went into the break locked at zero apiece.
The Demon Deacons struck first, finding the back of the net in the 51st minute for a 1-0 lead which would ultimately stand as the final tally.
Creating space for himself inside the box was Parker O'Ferrall in the 67th minute for Carolina's best look in the second half, but his shot sailed just over the crossbar.
Cordes made three stops in the second frame to conclude the match with a career-high six.

Inside the Numbers

Cordes' six saves eclipsed his previous career high of five, done at NC State exactly a year ago to the day on Oct. 14, 2022.
UNC had seven shots to WFU's 10, but Carolina held a narrow 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Cordes, Harper, Quenzi Huerman, Sam Williams and Til Zinnhardt logged a full 90 minutes.
Carolina has not allowed more than one goal in a contest this season.
