BERKELEY, CALIF. – The University of North Carolina men's soccer team used an 83' equalizer to claim a 2-2 draw at Cal on Sunday. The Heels dominated the first 40 minutes, taking a 1-0 lead through Riley Berge, but Cal managed to find the net twice in the last four minutes of the first half to flip the script. The two teams battled during a scrappy second half, but Jonathan Luna Sabando fired in a bouncing ball off a corner and Joschi Schelb steered it home to level for the Heels.

Each team reached double digits in shots with both putting five on goal. The Heels spent most of the night on the front foot and produced nine corners compared to Cal's four.

Now, UNC will look forward to hosting No. 1 Stanford on Friday night on Dorrance Field at Play2Dream Legacy Stadium. That game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m. with tickets available at GoHeels.com.

How It Happened

10' – Carolina put the pressure on early, earning two corners within the first 10 minutes and looking dangerous on both.
15' – Bertil Rygaard Hansen got best his defender on the left wing and crossed to Joschi Schelb who just put it over the bar with his left foot.
18' – Schelb hit a great cross into the mixer off a free kick that was headed across goal and buried by Riley Berge to make it 1-0.
26' – Luca Nikolai forced the Cal keeper into a nice save and then Max Fisher followed up with another dangerous chance.
41' – Cal leveled with a curler in the upper 90 completely against the run of play.
44' – Cal got another one, slotting one in the bottom right corner, to make it 2-1.
45' – Dan Klink had two solid chances just before the end of the half but Cal's keeper came up big to keep the halftime lead.
83' – Jonathan Luna Sabando fired one in to the box that Joschi Schelb turned home to equalize.

Riley Berge's goal was his first of the season and the second of his career.
Joschi Schelb's goal was his third of the season and the 23rd of his career.
Jonathan Luna Sabando picked up the first assist of his career on Schelb's goal.
Veterans Ryan Dugan and Max Fisher saw their first action of the season coming off of injury.
