Men’s Soccer Falls To No. 21 Clemson, 2-1

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina men's soccer team dropped a tough ACC match-up with Clemson, 2-1, on Saturday night on Dorrance Field at Play2Dream Legacy Stadium. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead in the eighth minute, but the Heels leveled through Joschi Schelb in the 36'. UNC was pushing to take lead after Clemson went down to 10 men, but Clemson's Malick Daouda rifled one from outside the box into the top corner.
Carolina had 18 shots compared to Clemson's seven, but each team finished the night with five shots on goal. The Heels also had a huge edge in corners 16 compared to the Tigers' three.Clemson went down to nine men in the 82' after Xander Sevian picked up his second yellow.

- 8' - Clemson jumped in front when Martin Bakken headed home a great cross.
- 9' – Alan Rutkowski made an excellent save to deny Ransford Gyan, who was in on goal.
- 26' – Rutkowski came up with another big save on Xander Sevian.
- 36' – Joschi Schelb danced around a defender and slotted home through the keeper's legs to level things.
- 37' – Clemson's Christian Scott was shown red for a high boot.
- 57' – Schelb nearly made it two on the night but Clemson's keeper made a nice.
- 61' – Clemson's Malick Daouda rifled one from outside the box to put the Tigers back in front.
- 82' – Clemson's Xander Sevian earned a yellow, his second of the match, due to a high boot putting the Tigers down to nine men.

- Joschi Schelb scored his fifth goal of the season and the 25th of his career.
