Tennis Titans Clash Friday In Durham

CHAPEL HILL - Two of the titans of ACC women's tennis clash in the final weekend of regular season action. The top ranked and unbeaten North Carolina Tar Heels visit No. 9 Duke on Friday in Durham, N.C., with first serve set for 6 p.m.
The Tar Heels enter the match having already wrapped up the top seed in the ACC Championship with a 12-0 record against the league this spring, while Duke sits second with a 10-2 mark. Miami, NC State and Virginia are in a three-way tie for third at 8-3.
North Carolina (23-0), the lone team without a loss in Division I tennis, is in search of its seventh win in a row over the Blue Devils. A 24th win on the season would match the third longest winning streak in program history, equaling the 2019 club.
Carolina senior Cameron Morra heads up a a group of five singles players listed in the national rankings. Morra is No. 4 and is followed up with No. 17 Elizabeth Scotty, No. 24 Reilly Tran, No. 45 Fiona Crawley and No. 48 Carson Tanguilig is No. 48.
Crawley and Scotty are No. 1 in the doubles rankings and Morra and Alle Sanford moved into the ITA rankings this week at No. 26.
Duke (15-3) boasts a trio of ranked singles players - No. 9 Chloe Beck, No. 21 Georgia Drummy and No. 122 Emma Jackson. In doubles, Karolina Berankova and Drummy are No. 38, while Beck and Coleman sit No. 55.
The ACC Championship returns to the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia, for the second year in a row. The event begins Wednesday, however, Carolina has earned a double bye and will begin their run at a sixth-straight trophy on Friday in a quarterfinal match at 3:30 p.m. ET.
