Women’s Tennis Opens Weekend With Top-20 Win

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 5 University of North Carolina women's tennis opened the weekend against no. 20 Clemson Friday evening at Chewning Tennis Center. The Tar Heels cruised to a 4-1 victory for their eighth ACC win of the season.
In doubles, no. 3 Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton dominated from first serve to take a 6-2 win on court two. Tatum Evans and Maddy Zampardo were partners again on court three where they eventually clinched the doubles point for Carolina, 6-3.
Clemson battled to even the score after winning the singles match on court four against no. 111 Anna Frey.
No. 8 Oby Kajuru regained momentum for the Tar Heels with a straight-set win in singles. The win gave UNC the lead yet again at 2-1.
On court three, no. 27 Tatum Evans picked up a win to extend the Tar Heels' lead. The junior won in dominant fashion with a score of 6-0 in the second set.
No. 2 Reese Brantmeier later clinched the match for UNC after earning a ranked win over no. 53 Rinon Okuwaki.
