Brantmeier Lands Two National Awards
June 16, 2026 | Women's Tennis
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the 2026 national award winners for women's tennis Tuesday morning. Reese Brantmeier was named Senior Player of the Year and Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award winner. The senior is the only athlete across both men's and women's tennis to win more than one national award.
The Wisconsin native was a standout for the Carolina women's tennis program throughout her career. Most recently, Brantmeier was tabbed ACC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season and was named a finalist for the prestigious Honda Sport Award.
The reigning singles national champion has continued to cement her legacy in the UNC tennis program. Over the course of her career, Brantmeier has earned 10 All-America honors while helping the team reach back-to-back Elite Eight appearances and the program's first national championship in 2023.
Beyond the court, Brantmeier has continued to leave a lasting impact on the sport and her community. She founded the Reese Brantmeier Project, where she successfully rebuilt two dilapidated tennis courts in her hometown of Whitewater, Wisc. The courts are now free for the community to use, and tennis equipment is available without charge through local libraries. The initiative has allowed Brantmeier to make the sport more accessible to the community. Additionally, she has been involved in coaching clinics or mentoring high school students with aspirations to play beyond their high school career. Brantmeier has been able to help foster those dreams while growing the sport among the local youth.
