
Tar Heels Score Road Win Against Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. - North Carolina won four of the first five team points decided to clinch a pivotal ACC victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Tar Heels won the doubles point and three singles matches to beat Clemson 4-3.
Carolina got off to a good start by winning the first two doubles matches finished to secure a 1-0 team lead. Clay Donato and Taylor Fogleman shut out the Tigers' pair of Gera Boryachinskiy and Ike Belk 8-0 for their 29th win of the 2008-09 season, and Brennan Boyajian and Zach Hunter followed with an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles to clinch the team point.
After Ike Belk opened up singles play by winning at No. 4 singles to notch Clemson's first team point, the Tar Heels reeled off three victories in a row. Senior team captain Fogleman started the run with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Rok Bizjak, and Donato followed with a victory against No. 115 Carlos Alvarez in which he came back from a 6-7 first set loss to win 6-1, 6-2 in the second and third sets, respectively. Andrew Crone's comeback three-set win against Gera Boryachinskiy clinched the match and a fourth ACC win for Carolina.
The Tar Heels play their final regular season match against No. 47 Georgia Tech on Sunday, April 12. The match will be played at 1:00 p.m. in Atlanta, Ga.
