Notre Dame Edges MTEN In ACC Quarterfinal, 4-3

CARY, N.C.—Third-seeded Notre Dame dropped the doubles point but came back to defeat 11th-seeded North Carolina, 4-3 on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship at the Cary Tennis Park.
The 24th-ranked Fighting Irish improved to 21-6 and advanced to Saturday's semifinals with the victory, with Carolina falling to 15-11.
How it Happened — Doubles
• The Fighting Irish's Sebastian Dominko and Perry Gregg won on court one, 6-4, over Roan Jones and Anthony Wright in the day's first doubles decision.
• Minutes later, Ian Mayew and Logan Zapp grabbed an early break to take 2-1 lead, then went on to top Evan Lee and Chase Thompson, 6-4, on court three for Carolina.
• On court two, Niels Ratiu and Chris Xu also went up a break in the early going and earned a 6-4 win over Luis Llorens Saracho and Peter Nad on court two to clinch the doubles point for a 1-0 UNC lead.
How it Happened — Singles
• Llorens Saracho topped Kase Schinnerer in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, on court six to start singles play and tie the team score at one apiece.
• Gregg gave the Irish a 2-1 lead with his 6-2, 6-1 victory over Jones on court two.
• Dominko, ranked #18 in singles, defeated Xu, 6-3, 6-4 to give Notre Dame a 3-1 lead.
• Seconds later, Mayew pulled Carolina within a point a 3-2. He won his first set against Guiseppe Cerasuolo, 6-4, then broke him to take a 4-2 lead in the second set and win, 6-2. Mayew has won four of his last five decisions and has a team-high 23 singles victories.
• Ratiu grabbed a break on court four over Nad to tie things in the first set at 4-4, then broke him again to win the first frame, 7-5. The Tar Heel junior took a 7-5, 6-3 win to make the score 3-3 while improving to 3-0 in the ACC Championship.
• Kyran Magimay came from behind to win the first set on court five, 7-5, over Constantinos Djakouris after trailing, 5-3. Magimay led, 4-2, in the second set before Djakouris rallied to tie it at 4-4. Magimay broke Djakouris in the next game to retake the lead at 5-4, eventually winning, 7-5, 6-4, to snap Djakouris' six-match winning streak.
