• Duncan's another one of those guys, like Ryan Creighton, who's got tremendous lacrosse IQ.
• He can play both ends of the field. He catches on quickly to what you're trying to do defensively and offensively.
• He's a calming influence for some of the young guys at the offensive end.
• Coming off a year where he gained valuable experience.
General: A returning starter in the first midfield unit for the Tar Heels...a 6-0, 185-pound midfielder.
2011 (Freshman): Played in all 16 games as a freshman...started the first 14 games of the season as a member of the first midfield unit...had 13 points on seven goals and six assists...had a key third quarter goal in comeback win over Navy...had a season-high two assists versus UMBC...had his season high for goals in a game with two versus Penn, including a man-up tally...followed that up three days later with a goal and an assist against Princeton...had a goal and an assist in the 11-6 win at Maryland.
Prep: A stellar recruit from Baltimore in the Class of 2010...was a standout midfielder at the Gilman School for Coach Brooks Matthews, a 1991 UNC alumnus....a three-sport athlete at Gilman in football, basketball and lacrosse...first-team All-County selection...nominated for the prestigious C. Personal: Duncan Miller Hutchins is the son of Chris and Catherine Hutchins... born May 13, 1991 in Baltimore, Md. ...has a younger brother and two older sisters...communication studies major...both of his parents are Carolina graduates and his dad played lacrosse for the Tar Heels...had a sister who played lacrosse at California-Berkeley.

1. The best thing about being a Tar Heel lacrosse player is getting to play with a great group of guys every day.
2. My favorite thing about competing for Coach Breschi is his family attitude.
3. Since last year the aspect of my training I've worked on the most is my off hand.
4. My best friend on another college lacrosse team is David Goldman.
5. My greatest strength as a lacrosse player is my knowledge of the game.

1. The best movie I've seen recently is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2.
2. If I could compete in another sport at UNC it would be basketball.
3. The music act I'd most like to see in person is Rusko.
4. The personal interest I have that might surprise my teammates is I like turtles.

1. After a game at Fetzer Field, I'd like to see a tailgate spread that included steak and crabs.
