No. 7 Men's Lacrosse Earns 8-7 Victory At No. 12 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – The seventh-ranked North Carolina lacrosse team (9-2, 2-0 ACC) collected an 8-7 road victory at No. 12 Duke (9-4, 0-2 ACC), Saturday afternoon in Atlantic Coast Conference action.
How It Happened
• Owen Duffy started the day with the game's first goal, less than three minutes into the matchup.
• Duke answered with back-to-back goals, as the Blue Devils led by one after the first, 2-1.
• Two-straight Carolina scored propelled the Tar Heels into the lead, as Matt Wrede and Dominic Pietramala hit the back of the net.
• The Blue Devils ended the first half on a 3-0 run, leading 5-3 at the break.
• To open the half, a goal each from Ty English, Mason Szewczyk and Parker Hoffman thrusted Carolina into the lead, 6-5 with 11:57 in the third.
• After a Duke goal to stop the Carolina run, Pietramala closed the quarter off an assist from Duffy, as Carolina led by one entering the fourth.
• Mason Szewczyk began the fourth with a man-up goal, off an assist from Matt Wrede, giving the Tar Heels their largest lead of the game with 12:44 left.
• Duke's Aiden Burke responded with a goal, as the Tar Heel defense kept the Blue Devils off the board for the remaining 10:59.
