Men's Lacrosse Falls To Richmond In NCAA First Round, 13-10

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – An 11-goal second half lifted Richmond (14-3, 5-0 A10) over No. 8 North Carolina (10-5, 3-1 ACC), 13-10, Saturday afternoon in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament.
How It Happened
• Carolina led 3-0 after the opening 15 minutes, as James Matan, Ryan Levy and Dominic Pietramala each hit the back of the net for the Tar Heels.
• The Tar Heels scored two of the first three goals in the second quarter, both by Owen Duffy, as Carolina led 5-1 with less than three minutes remaining in the opening half.
• Richmond's Gavin Creo trimmed the deficit to three goals with 1:52 left in the second quarter, as the host Tar Heels led 5-2 at the break.
• The Spiders converted on three-straight goals in the first three minutes of the second half, tying the matchup at five-all at the 12:02 mark in the third quarter.
• A back-and-forth third quarter ended with the score knotted at nine apiece.
• In the fourth, Pietramala scored with 10:08 remaining in the contest, answered by four consecutive Richmond goals to end the game.

• Pietramala and Duffy each posted hat tricks, as Duffy added two assists in the game.
• Four Tar Heels scored one goal each to round out the Carolina scoring.
