Duffy's Career Day Propels Men's Lacrosse Over Jacksonville, 20-7

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – A career-high six goals from Owen Duffy paced fourth-ranked North Carolina (6-1) over Jacksonville (5-3), 20-7, Saturday at Dorrance Field.
How It Happened
• Jacksonville scored the game's first goal, answered by six-straight from the host Tar Heels, who led 7-3 after the opening quarter. In the opening 15 minutes, Mason Szewczyk, Owen Duffy, Caden Harshbarger, Spencer Wirtheim and James Matan hit the back of the net for Carolina.
• The Tar Heels outscored the Dolphins 6-2 in the second quarter, taking a 13-5 edge into the halftime break.
• Carolina's defense posted a scoreless third quarter on the defensive end, with two Dominic Pietramala scores and a goal from Ty English pushing the Tar Heel lead to 11 after the third, 16-5.
• Duffy, Parker Hoffman, Colin Hannigan and Matt Wrede capped off the game with fourth-quarter goals, giving Carolina a 20-7 victory.

• Duffy led all players with eight points (six goals, two assists).
• Pietramala, English, Matan and Wirtheim each scored twice, as Carolina had 11 different goal scorers.
