WLAX Begins ACC Play Against Syracuse In Another Top-5 Battle

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 2 North Carolina women's lacrosse is set for another top-5 battle – this time on home turf – to open Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Tar Heels welcome No. 4 Syracuse to Chapel Hill on Saturday, Feb. 22, for an 11 a.m. ET game at Dorrance Field.

- This is the 21st meeting between North Carolina and Syracuse in program history. UNC leads 5-2 at home.
- Ashley Humphrey was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Feb. 18. She paced UNC's offense in Gainesville with three goals and six assists.
- Brooklyn Walker-Welch was named the ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 18. She had one goal, two ground balls and three caused turnovers against the Gators.
- Carolina has three ACC weekly honors through two weeks to lead the conference. UNC has claimed the defensive honor in back-to-back weeks with Sam Forrest winning on Feb. 11.
- Chloe Humphrey has scored UNC's opening goal in every game this season. She has had five goals in back-to-back games.
- Carolina is ranked No. 2 in every poll this week: IWLCA, USA Lacrosse and ILWomen.
- The Tar Heels were picked second in the ACC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Kaleigh Harden, Brooklyn Walker-Welch and Marissa White were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team. Syracuse was picked fourth with one first-place vote.
- They were picked second in the ACC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Syracuse head coach Kayla Treanor earned gold under Jenny Levy at the 2022 World Championship. Treanor and UNC assistant coach Marie McCool were named to the 2022 All-World Team, and both Treanor and McCool also earned gold in 2017.
- It was announced last week that head coach Jenny Levy will be inducted into the IWLCA Hall of Fame for the Class of 2025. She is also a member of the USA Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
