No. 1 Women’s Lacrosse Dispatches ECU, 20-4

GREENVILLE N.C. – Top-ranked North Carolina women's lacrosse used a 13-0 run, while the defense held ECU scoreless over the second and third quarters to dispatch of ECU, 20-4, Wednesday night. ECU drew within one at 4-3 with three minutes left in the first before Carolina put their foot on the gas and took a 17-3 lead early in the fourth.
UNC had 11 goal scorers on the night and the defense added to its tally of scoreless quarters, now having forced 14 this season. The Tar Heels improved their nation-leading win streak to 13 games while the Pirates fell to 4-8.

The No. 1 Tar Heels will return home for Senior Day against Cal on Sunday, April 13. First draw is scheduled for 11 a.m. and the game will air on the ACC Network.

How It Happened
- The Heels were off an running with a goal for Kiley Mottice from Ashley Humphrey on the first possession of the game.
- Marissa White made it 2-0 with a goal after Chloe Humphrey stung the post.
- Ashley Humphrey assisted Chloe for the 21st time this season to make it 3-1 at the first media TO.
- Goals from Kaleigh Harden and Ashley Humphrey made it 5-3 Tar Heels.
- A dime from Kate Levy to Ashley Humphrey let Humphrey beat the first quarter buzzer and made it 6-3 at the end of the first.
- Caroline Godine, Marissa White and Kaleigh Harden ran off three straight to start the 2nd to give UNC a 9-3 lead.
- The Heels ran off seven in a row to break things open, 11-3, at the media TO in the 2nd quarter. Chloe's second and Addison Patillo's first added to the run.
- Another gorgeous assist from Ashley Humphrey led to a Kiley Mottice finish to make it 12-3.
- UNC ended the half on a 9-0 run to lead at the break 13-3.
- Eliza Osburn netted her first just before the media TO in the third quarter to make it 14-3.
- Marissa White and Caroline Godine complete their hat tricks to make it 16-3 at the end of three.
- White makes it four on the night to make it a 13-0 run.
- Darcy Felter gets on the board with a nice assist from Julia O'Conner to make the score 18-4.
- Goals from Reilly Casey and Ella Cabrera cap the night and give the Heels the 20-4 win.
- UNC outshot ECU 44-14 and had a 33-9 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Heels dominated with a 19-7 edge in draw controls and a 24-12 margin in groundballs.
- After ECU scored to make it 4-3 with 3:07 left in the first quarter, the Tar Heels rattled off 13 consecutive goals to take a 17-3 lead with 13:20 left in the fourth.
