Game Notes Live Stats Watch

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 1 Carolina women's soccer will hit the road to take on No. 16 Virginia Friday night in Charlottesville, Va. The match will be the third top 20 matchup for the Tar Heels this season, and the second in just a week's time. The Tar Heels and Cavaliers are set for a 7 p.m. kickoff with streaming available on ACCNX.

Carolina and Virginia are prepped for their 52^nd meeting in program history. The Tar Heels lead the series against the Cavaliers with a record of 41-5-5.

UNC heads into the matchup on a six-game winning streak, including two wins in ACC play. Friday's match will be Carolina's first conference game on the road this season. The Tar Heels remain unbeaten on the road this season while outscoring opponents 5-1.

In yet another top-ranked battle, Carolina will look to the leadership of Bella Devey and Lilliah Blum to maintain their offensive dominance. Devey recorded her second brace of the season in the Tar Heels' last match and now leads the team in total goals with 10. Blum has recently emerged as one of the league's best attackers. The senior notched her first career brace in Carolina's win over No. 2 Duke.

Tar Heel Tidbits

Carolina ranked No. 1 in the recent United Soccer Coaches Poll. The Tar Heels have now received a No. 1 ranking in 38 seasons.
The Tar Heels have outscored their opponents 36-6 this season.
Carolina picked up wins over Cal and Duke, improving to 2-0 in ACC play.
UNC holds a 6-1 record at home with five wins coming in shutouts. The Tar Heels have outscored their opponents 31-5 on Dorrance Field.
Lilliah Blum recorded her first career brace in the match against Duke. She now has four goals this season. Blum was tabbed ACC Offensive Player of the Week and TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week on Sept. 22.
Bella Devey leads the team with ten total goals. She was tabbed ACC Player of the Week after leading the nation in scoring with five goals and 10 points during week one of the season. The honor marks the first ACC weekly award of her career. She was also named to the Preseason All-ACC Team.
Hope Munson and Summer Denigan have each recorded a brace this season. Denigan also leads the team with four assists.
Peyton Trayer leads Carolina in goal with nine wins and 13 saves. She has notched seven shutouts this season.
Five Tar Heels were featured in the Preseason TopDrawerSoccer Top 100 Rankings (Summer Denigan - no.4, Izzi Stratton - no. 24, Bella Gaetino - no. 35, Bella Devey - no. 68, Hope Munson - no. 77).
Three Tar Heels were named to the Preseason TopDrawerSoccer Best XI Teams (Summer Denigan - First Team, Izzi Stratton - Third Team, Cali O'Neill - Freshman Team).
Both Summer Denigan and Izzi Stratton were named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
The Tar Heels were selected fifth in the ACC Preseason Poll.
Aven Alvarez, Hope Munson, and Sealey Strawn were named to the U-20 WNT roster for the 2026 U-20 FIFA Women's World Cup. The trio of Heels helped the national team advance to the round of 16 at the World Cup.
Amari Manning and Deus Stanislaus were named to the U-17 WNT roster for the upcoming 2026 U-17 FIFA Women's World Cup in Morocco.
