Women’s Soccer Faces Alcorn State In Non-Conference Finale

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 7 Carolina women's soccer is set to host Alcorn State Sunday afternoon for their final nonconference matchup of the season. The Tar Heels and Braves will kick off at 1 p.m. from Dorrance Field at Play2Dream Legacy Stadium with streaming available on ACCNX.

UNC and Alcorn State will meet for the first time in program history this weekend. The Tar Heels look to build off their recent success as they head into the match on a five-game winning streak, including a statement win over no. 2 Duke.

Carolina will welcome the Braves to Chapel Hill where the team has continued to put together dominant performances on both sides of the ball. UNC has compiled a 5-1 record at home this season while outscoring opponents 26-5.

Tar Heel Tidbits

Carolina ranked no. 7 in the recent United Soccer Coaches Poll.
The Tar Heels have outscored their opponents 31-6 this season.
Carolina picked up wins over Cal and Duke, improving to 2-0 in ACC play.
UNC holds a 5-1 record at home with four wins coming in shutouts. The Tar Heels have outscored their opponents 26-5 on Dorrance Field.
Lilliah Blum recorded her first career brace in the match against Duke. She now has four goals this season.
Bella Devey leads the team with eight total goals. She was tabbed ACC Player of the Week after leading the nation in scoring with five goals and 10 points during week one of the season. The honor marks the first ACC weekly award of her career. She was also named to the Preseason All-ACC Team.
Hope Munson and Summer Denigan have each recorded a brace this season. Denigan also leads the team with four assists and 18 points.
Peyton Trayer leads Carolina in goal with eight wins and 13 saves. She has notched six clean sheets this season.
Five Tar Heels were featured in the Preseason TopDrawerSoccer Top 100 Rankings (Summer Denigan - no.4, Izzi Stratton - no. 24, Bella Gaetino - no. 35, Bella Devey - no. 68, Hope Munson - no. 77).
Three Tar Heels were named to the Preseason TopDrawerSoccer Best XI Teams (Summer Denigan - First Team, Izzi Stratton - Third Team, Cali O'Neill - Freshman Team).
Both Summer Denigan and Izzi Stratton were named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
The Tar Heels were selected fifth in the ACC Preseason Poll.
Aven Alvarez, Hope Munson, and Sealey Strawn were named to the U-20 WNT roster for the 2026 U-20 FIFA Women's World Cup. The trio of Heels helped the national team advance to the round of 16 at the World Cup.

Fans are also encouraged to bring their dogs to Sunday's match for the Dogs at Dorrance promotion.

Dogs at Dorrance Information

Fans with dogs will be allowed to enter Dorrance Field through any entrance but will be seated in sections 19, 20, or 21. Dogs will not be permitted to be seated in any other areas of the stadium.
All dogs must have current vaccinations.
Dog owners assume responsibility for the actions of their dogs while at the event. All dogs must always be kept on a fixed leash (no longer than 6 ft.). No retractable leashes.
The games may be crowded and the weather could be warm. Please ensure your dog is comfortable in these types of conditions before planning to attend.
