No. 21 Men's Soccer Continues Homestand With Memphis On Tuesday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 21 North Carolina men's soccer continues its homestand when it welcomes Memphis to Dorrance Field on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Heels enter the match at 3-1-2 (0-0-2 ACC), while Memphis currently sits at 1-3-3 (0-1-0 AAC).
Carolina's match with Memphis will air on ACCNX with Dean Linke and Brianna Pinto on the call.

Tar Heel Tidbits
- This will be the second match-up between Carolina and Memphis with UNC having won the lone contest, a 2-0 win in the 2023 NCAA Tournamnet.
- Head Coach Carlos Somoano is in his 15th season at the helm of Carolina soccer (24th overall). He holds a career record of 179-64-51.
- Carolina returned to the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 this week at No. 21. The Heels have five ranked teams on their schedule along with Virginia, who is receiving votes.
- GK Andrew Cordes posted his second clean sheet of the season at No. 5 NC State after facing 15 shots and making seven saves, the most he's posted since the 2023 season. He now has 22 clean sheets during his career.
- Andrew Czech has tallied two assists this season, brining his career total to 11.
- Incoming grad student Nacho Abeal made his presence felt in his first few matches as a Tar Heel. He scored in both of the first two games bringing his career total to 13. His goal against UCF was the fifth game-winning goal of his career. He also leads the team with three assists on the season.
- Luca Nikolai started all 39 of his games at James Madison over the previous two seasons, notching five goals and six assists. He entered 2025 as a member of Top Drawer Soccer's Best XI and ranked No. 9 on their Top 100 list. He is also a member of the Mac Hermann Trophy Watch List. Â Â
- True freshman Ryan Dugan has been a super sub for Coach Somoano. He's tallied two goals in six matches, including the gamewinner versus Evansville.
