No. 2 Women’s Lacrosse Takes Down No. 1 Boston College In Saturday Thriller

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Second-ranked North Carolina women's lacrosse used timely offense and a stingy second-half defense to better No. 1 Boston College on Saturday at Dorrance Field.
BC got off to a hot start, scoring the first four goals of the game, but UNC chipped away, taking its first lead of the game at 11-10 with 6:24 left. The Tar Heels added another goal and ran out the clock to win 12-11.
UNC is in line to be the No. 1 team in the country for the first time since week five of the 2023 season.
The Tar Heels improved to 12-0 (7-0 ACC) while the Eagles fell to 13-1 (6-1 ACC).
How It Happened
The second-ranked Tar Heels will head to Greenville for a non-conference tilt with East Carolina on Wednesday, April 9. First draw is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the broadcast airing on ESPN+.

- Boston College jumped out to a 4-0 lead, Carolina's largest deficit of the season, forcing a UNC timeout.
- Marissa White got the Heels on the board with a free-position goal to make it 4-1.
- Caroline Godine scored on an open net after a forced turnover to make it 4-2.
- The first quarter ended with the score 5-2. BC led in shots on goal 7-6, but made four saves to two.
- UNC opened the second quarter with a three-goal run to level things at five. Goals from Olivia Vergano, Chloe Humphrey and Kiley Mottice did the work.
- Eliza Osburn opened her account late in the second to tie things at six.
- Carolina outshot BC 18-11 in the first half and had the advantage in shots on goal, 13-10.
- BC had the edge in draw controls, 10-5.
- Kate Levy opens the second-half scoring and ties it at seven.
- C. Humphrey's second on the day brought things level at eight.
- Addison Pattillo finished a gorgeous assist from Ashley Humphrey and the Heels and Eagles continued to alternate goals.

- BC pulled one back with 3:33 left to make it 12-11.
