Ten Tar Heels To Compete At Women's Lacrosse World Championship

The North Carolina women's lacrosse program will be well represented at the 2026 World Championship in Tokyo. Carolina has 10 Tar Heels in the tournament representing five countries. Pool play opens on Friday morning when Japan takes on Czechia with the other four countries getting started later on Friday or early Saturday. The USA won the most recent women's field world championship when the squad was coached by UNC's own Jenny Levy. Current assistant coach Marie McCool is aiming for her third world championship in senior field lacrosse after earning medals in 2017 and 2022. She is joined by two other Tar Heel gold medalists from the 2022 team in Ally Mastroianni and Caylee Waters.
