No. 1 Women’s Lacrosse Advances to ACC Semifinals With 15-11 Win Over Duke

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No. 1 North Carolina women's lacrosse defeated No. 19 Duke for the second time in less than a week to advance to the ACC Tournament semifinals. The Heels jumped on Duke early and held off a few scoring runs to win the game 15-11.
Darcy Felter had a monster game for UNC, scoring five goals and dishing out an assist. Chloe Humphrey finished with six points on four goals and two assists and Kate Levy chipped in with two goals.
The draw control was huge for UNC, winning the category 20-7. Sarah Gresham led the way with eight draw controls, while Kaleigh Harden added five.

How It Happened
- Duke got on the board first with a goal at 7:23. The Heels tallied five shots and forced two saves in the first eight minutes.
- Darcy Felter go on the board at 3:57 in the first to tie things up off a feed from Chloe Humphrey.
- Kaleigh Harden scored on a beautiful individual move, hitting pause on her dodge and beating the keeper with an backhanded shot.
- Humphrey added another on a free position where she juked the keeper and fired home.
- Humphrey scored her second on a well-worked powerplay. Felter hit her in traffic and she buried past the keeper.
- Duke pulled one back on a nice solo effort with 10 minutes left in the second.
- Eliza Osburn weaved through traffic and buried one to give the Heels a 5-2 lead.
- Felter buried a free position to extend UNC's lead to 6-2.
- Duke passed off the free position and scored to make it 6-3 with 2:30 left in the half.
- Felter with a first-half hat trick off a great feed from Caroline Godine to make it 7-3 with 1:10 left in the half.
- Betty Nelson made three saves and allowed three goals on 12 Duke shots in the first half.
- Humphrey secured her hat trick early in the second half off a broken play where she picked up a loose ball and buried it for a 8-3 UNC lead.
- Duke used some slick passing to beat new keeper Lexi Zenk and make it 8-4 with 10:12 left in the third.
- Kate Levy got on the board using a free position to put the Heels up 9-4 at the 9:06 mark.
- Levy again on a laser feed from Felter to make it 10-5 with 3:46 left in the third.
- Addison Pattillo cut through the crease area and Julia O'Connor found her for her first of the game to make it 11-5 and force a Duke TO.
- Felter with her fourth of the game from Godine to push the lead to 12-5.
- Felter did it again for five on the day to make it 13-6 just before the end of the third.
- Godine bags her first goal to go along with two assists to give UNC a 14-6 lead early in the fourth.
- Duke scored three in a row to cut UNC's lead to 14-9 at 8:11 in the fourth.
- Humphrey with her fourth of the game, stopping Duke's run and making it 15-9 at the 6:55 mark.
- Duke added two more but UNC closed out the game to win 15-11.
Tar Heel Tidbits
- UNC is now 33-14 all-time versus Duke and has won 18 straight against the Blue Devils.
- The Tar Heels won the draw controls 20-7 on the day.
- Darcy Felter posted the 10th hat trick of her career. Felter's five total goals matches her career high.
- Chloe Humphrey tallied her 32nd hat trick in 37 career games.
