Women’s Lacrosse Keeps Rolling After Routing Temple, 19-3

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – With 11 players getting on the board, No. 2 North Carolina scored over 15 goals for the third straight game as it toppled Temple, 19-3, on Tuesday evening at Dorrance Field.
Following the win, the Tar Heels extended their unbeaten streak and improve to 6-0 (2-0 ACC). The Owls drop to 1-5 (0-0 AAC).
How It Happened
The second-ranked Tar Heels are back at Dorrance Field on Saturday, March 8, to resume Atlantic Coast Conference play against No. 14 Virginia. First draw is set for 2:30 p.m. ET on ACCNX.
Saturday will serve as a doubleheader with UNC men's lacrosse. One ticket, which can be purchased here, will gain access to both events.

How It Happened
- Carolina got on the board first 30 seconds into the game to jump out to a lead it would not relinquish, quickly making it 2-0 just 14 seconds later.
- Chloe Humphrey and Ashley Humphrey combined for five points in the opening 15 minutes to help give the home team a 6-2 lead at the end of the first.
- The Humphrey duo contributed two goals and two assists in the second quarter, with the youngest sister making it a first-half hat trick less than three minutes in.
- The Tar Heels maintained an 8-3 lead at the break. They had 19 shots to the Owls' eight with an 11-4 advantage in shots on goal.
- UNC was on the attack quickly coming out of the break, out-scoring TU 7-0 in the third frame. Marissa White got a hat trick of her own during that stretch with 5:13 on the clock.
- C. Humphrey added two more goals at the end of the third as Carolina extended its lead to 15-3 after 45 minutes.
- Carolina's defense did not concede a goal during the second half and kept Temple off the scoreboard for the final 32:57 of the contest.
- Starting with A. Humphrey's goal with 1:02 left in the second quarter, the Tar Heels went on a 12-0 run to close out the game.
- C. Humphrey led all players with eight points behind a career-high six goals and two assists. A. Humphrey had seven points after three goals and a game-leading four assists.
- UNC out-shot TU 46-14, including 30-6 on goal. C. Humphrey took a game-high 12 shots.
- Carolina had 11 caused turnovers to Temple's nine. Charlotte Corkins, Kate Levy and Brooklyn Walker-Welch had two apiece.
- UNC also ended with a 21-20 advantage in ground balls. Six different players recorded two.
- Led by Sophie Student's game- and season-high five, the Tar Heels finished with 21 draw controls to the Owls' five. It was the most draw controls UNC has had this year.
- North Carolina extended its record to 7-1 in the all-time series with Temple and 5-0 for games played in Chapel Hill.
- The Tar Heels have yet to allow double-digit goals this season. They have limited opponents to an average of 4.0 goals per game.
- C. Huphrey's six goals were the most by a Tar Heel since Alyssa Long vs. Virginia Tech on April 6, 2024.
- C. Humphrey has netted Carolina's first goal of the game in five of six contests. She has had a hat trick in five of six games, and three have come in the first half.
- A. Humphrey registered her 30th career game of five or more points. With her four assists today, she now ranks 12th in program history for career assists – and she has done that in just 22 games at UNC.
