Women’s Lacrosse Resumes ACC Play Against Virginia

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 2 North Carolina women's lacrosse is seeking to keep its undefeated streak alive as the team hosts No. 14 Virginia for a big top-15 Atlantic Coast Conference showdown on Saturday, March 8, at Dorrance Field.
First draw is slated for 2:30 p.m. ET on ACCNX with Mike Guerriere and 2022 UNC national champion Andie Aldave on call.
Saturday will also serve as a doubleheader with UNC men's lacrosse, which plays Hofstra at 11 a.m. One ticket, which can be purchased here, will gain entry to both events.

Ten Things to Know
- This will be the 51st meeting all-time between North Carolina and Virginia. The Tar Heels lead the series at 36-14, including 13-8 in Chapel Hill.
- Jenny Levy (née Slingluff) is a 1992 UVA grad, earning her degree in rhetoric and communications. She won UVA's first national title in 1991 and was team captain in 1992. She was the leading scorer during the 1991 NCAA Tournament with eight goals, two assists and 10 points, including five goals in the semifinals and three in the title game.
- Caylee Waters, UVA assistant coach, was a standout All-American for the Tar Heels from 2014-17 and won the NCAA title in 2016. She was the 2015 and 2016 National Goalie of the Year and still owns the school record for single-season saves (177, 2017).
- Waters and UNC assistant coach Marie McCool played together at UNC for three years, winning the 2016 national championship. The two also played under Levy for Team USA which won the 2022 World Championship.
- Kerrigan Miller, UVA assistant coach, did her grad year at Carolina in 2021 and was a GA/Director of Operations in 2022 when UNC was the undefeated national champion.
- North Carolina is looking for its third top-15 win this year. They had back-to-back top-5 wins: at #5 Florida (14-9) on Feb. 15 and vs. #4 Syracuse (16-8) on Feb. 22.
- Sam Forrest, Ashley Humphrey, Chloe Humphrey and Betty Nelson were added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. Brooklyn Walker-Welch and Marissa White were on the initial watch list. UNC's six honorees lead the nation.
- Through six games, Carolina has outscored its opponents 106-27. UNC's defense has held opponents to 4.5 goals per game and has yet to allow double-digit goals. UNC ranks second in the NCAA and first in the ACC in scoring defense.
- Together, Ashley and Chloe Humphrey have combined for 37 goals, 23 assists and 60 points. That's 34.9%, 41.1% and 37.0% of UNC's total offensive production, respectively.
- Betty Nelson boasts a .579 save percentage, which ranks first in the ACC and third in the NCAA. Her 5.05 goals-against average is first in the ACC and second in the NCAA.
