Carolina shot 271 today, the third-best team score of the day, four strokes behind 36-hole tournament leader Texas Tech and one more than defending NCAA champion Pepperdine. The Tar Heels moved two spots up the leader board to sixth in the 19-team field with the final round to play on Saturday.

He began his day with a bogey on the 12th hole, finished the back side with a trio of birdies and shot a 6-under 30 on the front side. The 64 equals the third-best round in UNC history by a freshman.
Burnett, a senior from Lafayette, Calif., shot his best round of the season today, which included a 7-under-par 29 on the front nine. He finished with eight birdies, a bogey and a double for a 5-under 67.
