Three-Year Extension For Men's Golf's Andrew DiBitetto

Andrew DiBitetto, entering his 10th season as the Johnny and Tricia Thompson Men's Golf Head Coach at the University of North Carolina, has agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension through the 2028-29 season.
A three-time ACC Coach of the Year, DiBitetto has led the Tar Heels to 27 team tournament titles, five top-10 and four top-five NCAA Championship finishes and an ACC championship.
DiBitetto's players have won 23 tournaments, earned National Player-of-the-Year, ACC Player-of-the-Year and ACC Rookie-of-the-Year honors, represented the United States in the Ryder Cup, Walker Cup and Palmer Cup and earned 20 All-America, 28 all-region and 20 All-ACC awards.
David Ford re-wrote the Tar Heel record book and was the National Player of the Year and won PGA TOUR University in 2025, Austin Greaser and Ford were four-time All-ACC honorees; Ben Griffin has won three times on the PGA TOUR and represented the U.S. in the Ryder Cup; Ryan Gerard has also won on TOUR and finished in the top 10 in multiple majors; and Ford joined Greaser and Dylan Menante in helping the U.S. win the Walker Cup at the Old Course at St. Andrews.
"Under Andrew's leadership, Carolina men's golf has established its status as one of the top programs in the country," says Director of Athletics Steve Newmark. "He has recruited and developed outstanding players and students and has worked hard to maintain a positive and collaborative culture with the players, alumni and supporters. His teams win tournaments each year, excel academically and his players are having success in the professional ranks. He's also played a key role in the development of the new, best-in-class team facilities at UNC Finley and in growing golf's partnership with the Jordan Brand. We're extremely fortunate that we'll have Andrew leading the way with our men's golf program for years to come."
Carolina finished first in stroke play in the NCAA Championships in 2022 and 2023 and advanced to match play in the 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 NCAA Championships, becoming the third team to qualify for match play in four consecutive seasons since the format began in 2009. It was the first time UNC finished in the top five in more than two consecutive seasons, and it marked the second time ever and the first time in more than 50 years that an ACC team had four top-five NCAA Championship finishes in a row.
In his 16th year with the program, DiBitetto (pronounced DEE-bih-TET-toe) was named ACC Coach of the Year in 2022, 2023 and 2024, the second time in ACC history and the first time since 1998 a coach won the award in three consecutive seasons.
Over the past six seasons, men's golf has contributed the second-most Directors' Cup points among Carolina's men's teams. Men's golf has the second-longest streak of perfect 1000s in Academic Progress Rates in UNC Athletics at 10 years in a row, the longest active streak among the men's teams.
In the last nine seasons, Tar Heel players have produced the 10-best career scoring averages, the 10-best single-season averages and 11 of the 14-lowest rounds in UNC history.
Last season, led by DiBitetto and assistant coach Noah Goldman, Carolina finished ninth in the NCAA Championship, won three tournaments, produced three individual medalists, two All-Americas and All-ACC honorees and four players on the PING All-East Region team.
