Men's Golf Hosts Williams Cup At Eagle Point

The sixth annual Williams Cup presented by STITCH Golf tees off Sunday at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington.

The Tar Heels are one of seven top-25 ranked teams in the field, which includes No. 2 Auburn and No. 10 Florida.

The Gators are the defending champions. They shot 15 under par a year ago to win the team title by a dozen strokes over Texas. UNC tied for third place with Louisville.

The Tar Heels had won the title in each of the tournament's first four seasons. The event honors Carolina's Hall of Fame men's basketball coach Roy Williams and his wife, Wanda, for their support of collegiate athletics, including the men's golf program.

Joining 16^th-ranked UNC, Auburn and Florida in the 2026 field are Augusta, No. 23 Arizona State, Kentucky, Louisville, UNLV, NC State, North Florida, No. 11 Notre Dame, No. 18 Oklahoma, Utah and No. 13 Vanderbilt.

Carolina's lineup includes Carson Bertagnole, Niall Sheils Donegan, Grant Roscich, Coltrane Mittag and Ethan Paschal.

Sheils Donegan was fifth last year in his first appearance in the Williams Cup with an opening-round 68 and a 4-under-par 212 finish. Bertagnole was 17th and Roscich placed 22nd.

Paschal is coming off a third-place performance earlier this week at the Elon Phoenix Invitational, where he shot consecutive rounds of 63 over the final 36 holes and shot a career-low 14-under 199.

Misha Golod, Preston Hage, Asher Vargas and Mack Edwards will compete individually.

Notre Dame's Nate Stevens was the medalist in 2025 with rounds of 70-67-72 for a total of 7-under-par 209. Carolina's David Ford had won the individual title in 2023 and 2024, the only multiple champion in the tournament's first five years.
