NCBWA Names Glauber Among Stopper Of The Year Finalists
June 4, 2026 | Baseball
DALLAS – Carolina baseball freshman Caden Glauber has been named a finalist for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award, the organization announced on Thursday morning.
Â
Glauber, who should have been a senior in high school this year, has proven himself as one of the elite arms in the entire country in his debut campaign. His ERA (2.06) and record (10-0) lead all NCAA freshmen while sitting third in strikeouts (88) and opposing batting average (.180).
Â
The Stopper of the Year Award is given annual to the nation's top relief pitcher. Glauber would be the first Tar Heel to win the award should he go on to do so since its founding in 2005.
Â
He is one of 14 finalists for this year's award, joining Florida State's John Abraham as the representatives from Atlantic Coast Conference. Of the 14, he owns the best record and has the most innings pitched (74.1). There is only one other freshman, Texas' Sam Cozart.
Â
The 2026 NCBWA Stopper of the Year honoree will be announced during a news conference at the Men's College World Series on Friday, June 12, at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.
