CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Top-ranked North Carolina women's lacrosse came out fast and didn't look back in a 27-3 win over Florida St. at Dorrance Field on Friday. The Heels scored the first eight goals and didn't let off the gas in their third ACC win of the season. UNC improved to 5-0 on the year and 3-0 in league play.
Chloe Humphrey and Addison Pattillo matched their career high in goals with seven and four respectively. Eliza Osburn and Kate Levy added hat tricks to pace a Tar Heel offense that saw 12 different players score. Negai Nakazawa added two goals, her first two as a Tar Heel, and Charlotte Rathjen capped a complete performance with her first UNC goal.
The Heels 27 tallies set a new program record for a single game, beating the previous mark of 24 which had been done five times, including the last game versus Louisville. UNC's 73 goals over the last three games are also a program record, bettering the previous mark of 65 which had been done twice. UNC also set a single-game record for shooting percentage after going 27-of-34 (.794).
Carolina played a clean game, committing only nine turnovers, while causing eight for FSU. The Heels dominated the draw circle, 22-8, with Rathjen leading the way with six over her own. Grace Leonard added five and Kaleigh Harden chipped in with four. UNC also provided 12 assists on its 27 goals led by Julia O'Connor's first three-assist game.
