
Track Posts Two Top-10 Times In The Country

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C./GAINESVILLE, Fl- North Carolina track and field had a fantastic final day at the Wake Forest Invitational.
Makayla Paige (2:01.11) ran the sixth-fastest 800m time in the country to win the invitational section of the 800m race. Paige's time was also the second fastest time in the East region.
Taryn Parks (4:09.84) followed up Paige's time with another top mark of her own in the 1500m. Parks ran the ninth fastest time in the NCAA and the second fastest time in school history with a five-and-a-half-second PR.
Vivian Stovall (3.62m) earned her first collegiate victory in the women's pole vault in the "B" section of the event.
McKynzie Mauney (53.11m) and Gracie Bolick (54.28) advanced to the women's hammer finals. Mauney won her first by taking the lead on her third throw of the morning. Mauney finished strong, as she had her best throw on her sixth and final throw of the day, which took ninth, and Bolick took seventh.
Mauney (46.83m) followed up the hammer by throwing discus as she finished in third with a season-best mark, and her teammate Skylar Bohlman (47.23m) took second.
Myles Scott (50.96) threw a personal best mark in men's hammer for the third straight meet. Scott launched a 3.5-meter PR on his final throw of the first flight. Sam Romerhaus advanced to the finals with his final throw of the second flight.Â
Maddy Kelley shattered her personal best in women's pole vault (4.17m) and moved into fourth all-time in Carolina history as she finished in third.
McKinley Thompson (2.06) jumped a personal best height in the men's high jump to take second.
Ethan Richter (17.86m) and Spencer Williams (17.66m) ended the night by going one and two in the men's shot put. The duo grabbed the lead from both of their first throws and held onto it for the rest of the competition. Richter took the lead on the final throw of the night.
