Men’s Lacrosse Falls To Syracuse In NCAA Quarterfinal, 13-11

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Sixth-seeded Syracuse defeated No. 3 North Carolina, 13-11, Saturday afternoon in the 2026 NCAA Men's Lacrosse quarterfinals.
The Tar Heels conclude the campaign with a 13-5 overall record, an appearance in the ACC championship game and their first NCAA quarterfinal appearance in five years.
How It Happened
• Each team posted a goal in the opening quarter, as longstick midfielder Peter Thomann opened the scoring with 1:03 remaining in the first.
• Following a Syracuse failed clear, Leif Hagerup fed Thomann, for his fourth of the campaign.
• Carolina opened the second quarter scoring five of the first six goals, leading 6-2 with 5:01 remaining in the half. In the stretch, freshman Anthony Raio converted twice for UNC.
• Syracuse responded with three-straight goals, trimming the Tar Heel lead to one goal entering halftime, 6-5.
• The Orange began the second half on a 3-0 run, taking a two-goal advantage less than four minutes into the third quarter.
• Carolina trailed by one after 45 minutes of play, 9-8.
• In a back-and-forth final quarter, the Orange outscored the Tar Heels by one, claiming the 13-11 victory.

• Dominic Pietramala, Brevin Wilson and Raio posted two goals in the contest.
• Thomann recorded a team-best three caused turnovers.
