Six Collect USILA All-America Honors, Wambach And Duffy Tabbed First Team

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Six North Carolina men's lacrosse players, highlighted by Brady Wambach and Owen Duffy's first-team All-America selection, were named to USILA All-America teams.
In addition to Wambach and Duffy, Ty English (second team), Dominic Pietramala (third team), Mason Szewczyk (honorable mention) and Peter Thomann (honorable mention) were named in the announcement. Carolina has posted at least one USILA first-, second-, third-team or honorable mention All-America for the 58th-straight season.
Additionally, Wambach was named the Lt. j.g. Donald MacLaughlin Jr. Co-Outstanding Midfielder, becoming the fifth in program history to win the award and the first since Jason Wade in 1996.
Wambach, the ACC's Co-Defensive Player of the Year, won 291 faceoffs and collected 188 ground balls this season, both single-season program records. The Pittsford, N.Y. native is fourth nationally in faceoff winning percentage (.657), leading the country in ground balls per game (10.4).
Wambach posted five games of 20-or-more faceoff wins. A two-time first-team All-America honoree, Wambach scored 11 goals and dished out four assists this season, both career highs. The junior is the 13th in program history to be named a first-team All-America two-or-more times in their career.
A 2026 Tewaaraton Award finalist, Duffy led Carolina in assists (40) and points (71) ranking second in goals (31). Duffy is one of six ACC players this spring with 60-plus points, setting his career high in assists and points. A product of East Quogue, N.Y., Duffy dished out three-or-more assists in eight games this season, highlighted by a career-best six helpers in the ACC semifinal win over Syracuse, and recorded posted five-or-more points in seven contests.
Duffy is the fourth Tar Heel in program history named a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award, and the fifth time Carolina has posted representation among finalists, joining Jed Prossner (2004), Marcus Holman (2013) and Chris Gray (2021, 2022). The junior is looking to become the first UNC men's player to win the award and the second at Carolina to collect top honors, joining Chloe Humphrey in 2025.
English posted six goals, 39 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers in 2026. The Burlington, Ontario product had five games of four-or-more ground balls, highlighted by a season-high five ground balls in ranked wins versus Penn and Penn State. Additionally, the graduate student recorded three games of two caused turnovers this spring.
Pietramala led the Tar Heels this season with 55 goals, while ranking second with 63 points. Scoring a goal in 16 games this season, Pietramala has nine games with three-or-more goals.
The Lutherville, Md. product is UNC's career goals leader, as well as breaking the single-season goals record this spring. In the Tar Heels' NCAA Tournament win versus UAlbany, the attackman scored 10 goals, a Carolina single-game record and NCAA Tournament single-game mark.
