Men's Lacrosse Falls To No. 8 Princeton, 14-12

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 4 North Carolina men's lacrosse team (4-1) fell to eighth-ranked Princeton (3-1), 14-12, Sunday afternoon at Dorrance Field.
How It Happened
• A defensive opening quarter for both teams, Carolina trailed after one, 2-1, with Andrew Preis scoring the Tar Heel tally to begin the matchup.
• After falling behind 4-2 midway through the second, the Tar Heels responded with three-straight goals before the half, courtesy of Ty English, Owen Duffy and Ryan Levy, taking a one-goal lead into the break.
• Carolina started the final 30 minutes of play scoring three of the first five goals, taking a two-goal lead, 8-6, with 10:30 left in the third.
• During the stretch, two goals from Dominic Pietramala and a score from Parker Hoffman off the faceoff wing paced the Tar Heel offense.
• Princeton ended the third quarter on a 4-1 run, taking a 10-9 edge into the final frame.
• To begin the fourth, a back-and-forth start from both teams concluded with Duffy's third goal of the day with 4:13 remaining, tied at 12-all.
• The Tigers scored the game-winning goal with 2:40 left by Chad Palumbo, capped off with Jackson Green's empty-net goal.
Tar Heel Performances
• Duffy and Pietramala each led Carolina with three goals apiece, as Duffy added two assists.
• Ty English finished with two goals, both assisted by Duffy.
• Brady Wambach finished the day with 21 faceoff wins, adding nine ground balls.
