Carolina plays in its fourth tournament of the fall semester on October 6-7, when the Tar Heels compete in the Fighting Irish Classic at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course.
Â
UNC was one of four teams to secure a share of the team title at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational September 30 at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The Hogan field included 13 nationally-ranked teams, and the three that UNC tied for the title (Texas, Vanderbilt and Virginia) were all ranked in the top 10.
Â
Four of the five Tar Heels starting at Notre Dame were also in the lineup at Colonial, including Andrew Riley and Keaton Vo, who led UNC with a pair of 13th-place finishes. Carson Bertagnole, whose 69 was the Tar Heels' best score in the final round, and Sihan Sandhu also return to the lineup. Joining those four are sophomore Grant Roscich.
Â
Niall Sheils Donegan tied for 17th at Colonial but is representing Scotland in the World Amateur Team Championship this week in Singapore.
Â
Following the co-championship at Hogan, the Tar Heels debuted in a tie for seventh place in the first-ever College Media Poll. Oklahoma State, the top team in the CMP is also playing in the Fighting Irish Classic and is paired with UNC and UCLA in Monday's first and second rounds.
Â
Also in the field are Georgia Southern, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Little Rock, Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Miami (Ohio), Purdue, Santa Clara and Tennessee.
