Men's Soccer Welcomes UAB Wednesday For Dogs At Dorrance

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina men's soccer continues its three-match home stand on Wednesday at 7 p.m. when it hosts UAB at Dorrance Field for Dogs at Dorrance Night. The Heels enter the match at 7-1-4 (1-0-4 ACC), while the Blazers currently sit at 3-7-1 (1-4-0 AAC). The first 100 dogs at Dorrance will receive a free dog toy.
Carolina's match with UAB will air on ACCNX.

Tar Heel Tidbits
- This will be the fourth match-up between UNC and UAB with Carolina holding a 2-1 advantage.
- Head Coach Carlos Somoano is in his 15th season at the helm of Carolina soccer (24th overall). He holds a career record of 183-64-53.
- With the focus primarily on RPI, Carolina sits at No. 14 entering the week, which is fourth among ACC squads.
- Carolina has won its last three matches and is currently on an eight-match unbeaten run. The Heels have only conceded two goals over the eight games.

- Nacho Abeal currently leads the team in assists (8) and points (16) and is tied for first in goals (4). He ranks third nationally and leads the ACC with his eight assists.
- Despite missing two games, Gabriel Bracken Serra is tied for the team lead in goals (4) and ranks third in points (10). He scored the sixth game winner of his career in UNC's win at Louisville on Oct. 3.
- Luca Nikolai entered 2025 ranked No. 9 on TopDrawerSoccer's Top 100. He's tallied three goals, including a brace at Lipscomb, and four assists this season. His 10 points rank second on the team.
- Dan Klink and Ryan Dugan stole the spotlight in Carolina's 4-0 win over St. Thomas on Saturday, Oct. 11. Klink only needed a six-minute span to post a hat trick with all goals coming off headers. The hat trick for Klink was the first by a Tar Heel since Jack Skahan scored three against Winthrop on Oct. 16, 2018. Dugan notched three assists on the night. He was the first Tar Heel to do so since Zach Wright had three against George Washington on Sept. 19, 2017. Saturday night marked the first time since Oct. 11, 2016 that a Tar Heel notched a hat trick and a fellow Tar Heel had three assists. In that match, Mauricio Penada scored the goals and Tucker Hume tallied the assists.
