Men's Soccer To Take On No. 21 Clemson Saturday Night

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina men's soccer will host No. 21 Clemson on Dorrance Field at Play2Dream Legacy Stadium Saturday at 7 p.m. The Heels are coming off a 2-0 win over American on Tuesday, while the Tigers took care of North Florida, 5-1. UNC enters the match at 2-1-3 (0-0-2 ACC), while Clemson sits at 5-2-0 (1-1-0 ACC). The game is being billed as a Blue Out with sticker books and thunder sticks available for fans.

Carolina and Clemson are playing for the 69th time with Clemson holding a slight advantage at 30-28-10. The Heels do hold a 5-3-2 advantage over the last 10 meetings.
Head Coach Carlos Somoano is in his 16th season at the helm of Carolina soccer (25th overall). He holds a career record of 187-69-58.
Carolina's transfer class of Nick Lockermann, Nico Loebus, Joschi Schelb and Ryan Zellefrow was ranked No. 2 by TopDrawerSoccer, while its incoming freshman class was ranked 14th.
Schelb is off to a hot start, having scored in four of the six matches so far this season. Zellefrow opened his UNC account with a goal vs. Stanford.
Luca Nikolai was drafted by NYCFC, but made the decision to return to Carolina to finish off his college career leading the Tar Heels. He's converted penalties in the last two matches to go along with an assist on the season.
