Keefer's Win Headlines Day 1 at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Senior Anna Keefer's long jump title headlined a day of strong performances for the North Carolina track and field teams Friday at the Virginia Challenge. Action at Lannigan Field continues throughout the day on Saturday.
Keefer's jump of 6.39 meters (20-11 ¾ ) was the longest of her career and led the field of 21.
In the women's 400m, Brianna White also had a personal-best performance, finishing in 54.62 to place second.
Ryan Saint-Germain ran a personal-best 47.02 in the men's 400 meters, winning his heat and finishing fifth overall.
In the men's 1500 meters, Jesse Hunt ran a lifetime best 3:44.63 to win his heat and ultimately place sixth overall as the second-fastest collegiate runner in the field.
In the men's 5,000 meters, Thomas Ratcliffe placed third in 13:36.87 to lead four other Tar Heels, with all five of them beating the 14-minute mark.
In the women's 10,000 meters, Paige Hofstad finished fifth overall in 33:57.08, becoming just the fourth Tar Heel in program history to break 34 minutes. Her time was also a PR.
In her steeplechase debut, freshman Sasha Neglia finished in 10:14.05 to take third.
