2019-20: Finished just outside All-ACC honors as a finalist in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes at the ACC Indoor Championships • Placed seventh overall in the 200 (21.48) and eighth in the 60 (6.82) after respectively clocking 21.39 and 6.73 in the prelims • His time of 6.73 in the 60-meter prelims was a personal best and moved him into third all-time in program history • Advanced to the 60-meter finals in three of his four regular season appearances before running a then-personal-best time of 6.76 in the Tiger Paw Invitational semifinal • Outdoor season canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic • Named to the 2019-20 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
2018-19: Finished 13th in the 60 meters (6.79) with a new personal-best time and 14th in the 200 (21.76) at the ACC Indoor Championships • His time of 6.79 is tied for second all-time in the history of UNC track & field • Won the 60 (6.94) at the season-opening Dick Taylor Carolina Cup • In outdoors, finished 20th in the 200 (22.73) at the ACC Outdoor Championships • Helped the 4x100 win the event at High Point’s VertKlasse Meeting with a time of 40.67 • Also competed in four events at the Florida Relays — 100, 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400.
2017-18: Ran a PR and the fifth-fastest time in UNC history in the 60-meter preliminaries, clocking in at 6.80 to tie for third all-time at Carolina and for an eighth seed in the final at the ACC Indoor Championships • Finished eighth with a final time of 6.91 • Also competed in three ACC Outdoor Championship events, including a sixth-place 4x100 time of 40.33, a seventh-place 200 wind-aided time of 21.31, and a 12th-place time of 60.67 in the 100 • Captured three titles at the Virginia Grand Prix after setting a new personal record of 21.02 in the 200, finishing the 100 in a time of 10.50, and running a leg of the 4x100 that completed the relay in 40.09, the fifth-fastest time in school history • Also ran a career-fastest 100 time of 10.47 at the Miami Hurricanes Collegiate Invitational • Won both of his events at the Battle of the Blues with times of 10.48 in the 100 and 40.63 in the 4x100.
Prep: 2-time All-America • 2016 AAU Indoor 60m & 200m champion • 2016 NCHSAA 4A 200m state champion • 3-time NCHSAA 4A all-state • Played wide receiver and kick returner for Person’s football team • Member of the National Honor Society • Graduated with honors.
Personal: Dontavian Tiyae Smith is the son of Chad Raglin and Latoya Smith • Born December 3 • He wants to recognize Willie and Careatha Williams for playing such a large role in his life.
