Tar Heels Host William & Mary For Senior Night

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina women's gymnastics team will participate in its final competition of the regular season on Saturday against William & Mary. The event is set to take place in Carmichael Arena at 6 p.m. and will honor the team's lone senior Lily Dean.
After defeating William & Mary last weekend 194.825-190.850, the team advanced its record to 10-2 (7-1 EAGL) on the season. The team is currently ranked fourth in the East Atlantic Gymnastic League with an average score of 195.175, and No. 39 nationally.
LAST WEEK
North Carolina routed William & Mary on Saturday afternoon 194.875-190.850 in its penultimate meet of the regular season.
Carolina dominated the entire meet and posted the meet's top-three scores in vault, top-four scores on bars, four out of the top five scores on beam, and top-two results on the floor.
North Carolina began the meet on bars against the Tribe. Elizabeth Culton and Kate Greene each turned in team-high scores of 9.800. Emery Summey posted a 9.755, while Hannah Nam earned a 9.675, and Hallie Thompson a 9.650. North Carolina held a 48.800-48.125 lead after the first rotation.
Summey and Drew Aldridge led the Tar Heels on the vault, the UNC's second rotation, with scores of 9.750. Culton ranked third on the squad with a 9.700 while Sophie Silverstein (9.650), Thompson (9.625) and Greenlow (9.625) rounded out the Tar Heels to finish the second rotation. North Carolina claimed the top three scores on the vault and halfway through the meet, UNC led 97.275-94.325.
UNC moved to the floor for the Tar Heel's third rotation. Lily Dean paced North Carolina with a 9.900, while Culton posted a 9.850 and Greenlow a 9.725. Nam turned in a 9.700, Green a 9.625, and Weil a 9.075. North Carolina pushed its lead to 146.075-142.650 with the beam to go.
The Tar Heels finished the meet on the bars, where Culton posted a team-best 9.800. Nam turned in a 9.775, Thompson a 9.750, Summey earned a 9.725, and Jamie Shearer finished with a 9.700. Greenlow ended with a 9.650 for the Tar Heels' final rotation.
THE OPPONENT
Due to many cancellations this season, William & Mary has only competed in two meets. They posted their highest score of the season last week on senior night with a team total of 190.850. Saturday's meet will be their third competition this season.
Following Saturday's meet, North Carolina will participate in the EAGL Championships at Pitt to round out conference competition.
