Gymnastics Places Third At Purple & Gold Podium Challenge

BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 17 University of North Carolina gymnastics competed at the Purple & Gold Podium Challenge Sunday in Baton Rouge, La. The event featured no. 2 LSU, no. 3 Alabama, and Arizona. The Tar Heels took home third place with a score of 195.950.
All-Around
Both Gwen Fink and Sydney Seabrooks competed in the all-around for Carolina. Seabrooks led the way with a 39.475 while Fink notched a 38.275.
Rotation One – Beam (48.375)
UNC started the night on beam posting a team score of 48.375. The Tar Heels were led by a 9.900 from JoJo Valahovic. Sunday's performance marks the third 9.900 or higher on the event for Valahovic this season. Both Jessica Naranjo and Seabrooks were just behind with a 9.850 each.
Rotation Two – Floor (49.250)
After rotation one, the Tar Heels bounced back to record their highest team score of the night on floor, 49.250. Seabrooks recorded her fourth 9.950 on the event this season. Naranjo also shined on the event with a season-best 9.925.
Rotation Three – Vault (49.200)
Paige Prejean got UNC off to a strong start in rotation three with a 9.850 on vault. Kaya Forbes rounded out the rotation with a 9.900. The senior's performance was her first 9.900 of the season on vault.
Rotation Four – Bars (49.225)
Carolina closed out the night on bars recording a season-high score on the event, 49.225. Freshmen Anna Pearl Stanley and Seabrooks put together back-to-back 9.850 performances for the Tar Heels. Cami Rueda led the way with a career-high 9.900.
