CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - No. 1 North Carolina scored a season-high 14 runs in its final tune-up before the start of conference play and cruised to a 14-0 victory over Temple Wednesday at Boshamer Stadium. Ten players hit safely for the Tar Heels (12-1) on the day, while seven pitchers combined on a seven-hit shutout of the Owls (2-9).

UNC right-hander Adam Warren (2-0) earned the win on a staff day. He worked four shutout innings and allowed four hits and two walks, while striking out two. Six relievers combined to allow just three hits over the final five frames, including Rob Wooten, Tyler Trice and Rob Catapano, who each worked at least one inning.
Temple starter Tom Bingham (1-2) allowed five runs on one hit and four walks over 1 2/3 innings. The Owls also used seven pitchers. Designated hitter Stan Orzechowski and first baseman Dan Brady each had two of Temple's seven hits.
The Tar Heels matched a season high with five runs scored in the second inning, and came back to better than mark with six runs in the fourth. Fronk started the scoring with a bases-clearing triple to left center in the second, and Horton added a two-run triple in the fourth. Ackley, Seager and Flack followed with RBI singles in the inning, as UNC held an 11-0 lead after four.
