Men's Golf Season Debut Monday In Knoxville

Carolina's 2026-27 season begins Monday and Tuesday, August 31-September 1, in the Visit Knoxville Collegiate at Fox Den Country Club in Farragut, Tenn.
This is the Tar Heels' first time competing in the Visit Knoxville Collegiate. In addition to UNC and the host, Tennessee, the field includes Charlotte, Chattanooga, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Liberty, Louisville, Memphis, Mississippi State, Missouri, NC State, South Carolina, Toledo, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.
Andrew DiBitetto enters his 10th season as the Johnny and Tricia Thompson head coach and his 16th season with the program. The Tar Heels won three times year and tied for ninth in the NCAA Championship after advancing out of regional play for the seventh time in the last eight NCAA Tournaments.
The Tar Heel lineup features sophomore Carson Bertagnole (Pinehurst), juniors Ethan Paschal (Fayetteville), Grant Roscich (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and Misha Golod (Kyev, Ukraine) and freshman Asher Vargas (Spring, Texas). Junior Sihan Sandhu (Ashburn, Va.) is playing as an individual entry.
Niall Sheils Donegan, an All-ACC and second-team All-America last year, is not in the lineup as he is in Ireland representing Team Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup for the second consecutive year.
Bertagnole also earned All-ACC honors, was a third-team All-America, ACC Freshman of the Year and Freshman All-America last season. His 70.19 scoring average was the second-best ever by a UNC freshman and the fifth-best by any player in Carolina history. He finished second in the summer in the Elite Amateur Series following third-place finishes in the Northeast and Southern Amateurs.
Roscich won the Sunnehanna Amateur in Johnstown, Pa., in the summer, while Sandhu made his PGA TOUR debut in July in the 3M Open, an invitation he earned by winning the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational in the spring.
