Men’s Soccer Announces 2026 Schedule

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina men's soccer program has finalized its 2026 schedule. Now entering head coach Carlos Somoano's 16th season at the helm, the Tar Heels are looking to build on a fantastic spring that saw them win the Carolina Cup with a 5-0 record after finishing in the 'receiving votes' category of the final 2025 United Soccer Coaches Poll.
The 2026 campaign features 15 regular-season games including nine games at Dorrance Field at Play2Dream Legacy Stadium. The Heels will take on three teams that finished the '25 season in the Top 25 and six squads that qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
Carolina will open the regular season with two road games, one at Georgetown on Thursday, Aug. 20 and one at Memphis on Monday, Aug. 24.
The Tar Heels home opener will be played on Friday, Aug. 28 vs. VCU at 7:30 p.m. After a trip to Cal on Sunday, Sept. 6, UNC will return to Chapel Hill for a five match homestand. The Heels will host ACC foe Stanford on Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. followed by matches with American (Sept. 15), Clemson (Sept. 19), Lipscomb (Sept. 26) and West Florida (Sept. 30).
Carolina will then hit a string of ACC match-ups starting at Boston College on Oct. 3. UNC returns home on Oct. 10 to host Notre Dame followed by road matches at Pitt (Oct. 16) and Duke (Oct. 23).
The Heels finish the regular season with two games in Chapel Hill starting with William & Mary on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Then, they'll play the finale on Friday, Oct. 30 when we host NC State.
UNC will get primed and ready for the season with exhibition matches one in Chapel Hill vs. Liberty on Sunday, Aug. 9 and one at Maryland on Thursday, Aug. 13.
