Men’s Soccer Falls at Memphis, 3-2

MEMPHIS – The University of North Carolina men's soccer team fell at Memphis, 3-2, on Monday. The Tigers scored two quick goals against the run of play in a chaotic first half that saw Carolina pull within a goal twice before Memphis took a 3-2 lead at the break. Despite UNC pushing for an equalizer in the second half while the Tigers sat back, the Heels couldn't find it and suffered their first loss of the season.

How It Happened
- 13' – Memphis served in a deep cross and got a back-post finish to take a 1-0 lead completely against the run of play.
- 15' – Memphis used a counterattack to serve a looping ball over the Carolina defense that was headed home for a two goal lead.
- 22' – Ryan Zellefrow played in Faraji Ramani who saw his shot saved but Joschi Schelb was there to tuck in the rebound to pull one back for the Heels.
- 35' – Memphis crossed from the left wing and eventually got on the end of a bouncing ball to make it 3-1 for the Tigers.
- 44' – Nick Lockermann played a deep ball into the mixer and Jace Donaway battled past the Memphis defense to tap it past the onrushing keeper to make it 3-2 at the half.
- 55' – Luca Nikolai floated a cross in and Ryan Zellefrow got on the end of it but Memphis' keeper was up to the task.
- 79' – Riley Berge headed one of the line to keep the Heels at a 3-2 deficit.

- Joschi Schelb's first-half goal was his second of the season and the 22nd of his career.
- Faraji Ramani picked up his first career assist on Schelb's goal.
- Jace Donawa's goal was the first of his collegiate career
- Nick Lockermann's assist on the Donaway goal was his first as a Tar Heel and the 10th of his career.
